Dorothy M. Gillespie of East Quogue passed away on July 25, 2023 at the age of 89.

Dorothy was born in the Bronx, New York, to Joseph and Frances Gillespie.  She lived in Yorkville and Woodside New York while working for Metropolitan Life from 1953-1987.  After retiring from Metropolitan Life, Dorothy moved to Hampton Bays in 1987.  Here she started her second career working for Sterns and then Macy's until her "second" retirement in 2000.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Patricia Dunn (and the late John) and her sister-in-law Helen Gillespie (and the late Joseph).  Dorothy was also the loving aunt to John Dunn (& the late Laura), Joseph Dunn, Barbara Gillespie, Joseph Gillespie (& Eileen), Eileen Gillespie-Alvarez (& the late Andy), Michael Dunn, Patrick Dunn, and Nancie Gillespie.  Dorothy was also surrounded by eight grandnieces and grandnephews: Katie Dunn, Alex Dunn, Stephen Dunn, Taylor Dunn, Lindsay Dunn, Mairead Gillespie, Declan Gillespie, and Carly Dunn.

Family to receive friends at the R. J. O'Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on Friday, July 28th, from 8:30am till 10:00am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rosalie's RC Church in Hampton Bays at 10:30am with burial to follow in Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Southampton NY.
