Evelyn A. Roll-October 15, 1919 to March 21, 2018
Evelyn (Black) was born in Brooklyn in Greenpoint and later as a young teenager moved to Rego Park (Annadale Park in those days) in Queens. She went to Newtown HS and was an executive secretary in Manhattan. She always was volunteering and worked many years at the Foundling Hospital in NYC, the Altar Society at our Lady of the Angelus Church in Rego Park, the American Cancer Society, and after retirement to Hampton Bays, for the Dominican Sisters Thrift shop. Evelyn was always thinking of others and her first words after saying hello were always to ask how you or your husband/wife/friend/children/grandchildren were. And she knew them all! She was never about herself and always had a smile on her face. She loved to read, draw and paint, garden, golf and travel. After her Husband Charles Robert Roll passed on, Evelyn and her brother Jim traveled the world extensively together from fishing for marlin in Mexico, to golfing in upstate NY, to visiting the Vatican. She is survived by her Daughter Janet Weiner, Son in Law Michael Weiner, Son Douglas Roll, Daughter in Law Francine D'Amico, and Daughter in-Law Ginger Roll. She was predeceased by her son Charles Robert Roll, jr. She enjoyed her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. We all will miss her. God rest in peace.
A celebration of her life was held at O'Shea's funeral home in Hampton Bays, Long Island NY and the funeral Mass was at St. Rosalie's RC Church. She is in her final resting place with her family and her husband Bob Roll at Mount St. Mary's cemetery in Queens, New York City.
