Obituary

It is with profound love and respect that we announce the passing of Dominic Joseph Lodato, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and decorated veteran, esteemed jurist, and cherished friend to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity, and unshakable devotion to family.

Born in Brooklyn, Dominic “Danny” grew up with a spirit of adventure and duty that would define his life. At the age of 17, he bravely served his country during World War II, manning a PT boat off the coast of Normandy. His courage in the face of uncertainty was a testament to the values he carried throughout his life.

Upon returning home, he dedicated himself to building a life of purpose. He pursued the law with the same steady hand that once guided him through rough Atlantic waters, ultimately serving as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court in Brooklyn. From his humble beginnings to the black robe of justice, he personified the promise of hard work, honor, and service to others.

Though widely respected as “His Honor,” to his family he was simply “Dad.” He lived with humility, humor, and a commitment to protecting and uplifting those he loved.

He leaves behind Yvonne his wife of over 50 years and his children from his first marriage Barbara, Vicky and Joseph, his grandchildren Nicholas, Alicia, James, Stephanie, Gregory, and Christian. His great grandchildren Anthony, Milo, Vivian, Lucas and Liam. We will forever honor his memory and strive to live by his example. He is reunited now with his beloved parents, sister, and nephew.
