Joan Patricia Culhane died on June 18th, 2017, in her home in Hampton Bays. She was 87.
Born on October 12, 1929, in the Bronx to William and Rose Quinlan. She was an only child who cherished her memories of growing up in her family's brownstone with her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mrs. Culhane was proud of her professional years at the New York Telephone & Telegraph Company as a commercial business representative. In addition to raising a family, she volunteered for many organizations, including Girl Scouts and the Southampton Hospital Thrift Shop. Mrs. Culhane was an active member of St. Rosalie's Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to travel around the world, exploring Europe, Africa, China, Russia, and the Middle East.
She is survived by her four children, Rosemarie King and husband Kelly, Sean Culhane and wife Maureen, Allyson Scognamiglio and husband Joseph, and Mary Joan Culhane. Her beloved grandchildren are Patrick, Christa, Marissa, and Lauren Rose Scognamiglio, and Brian and Liam Culhane. She was married to Robert Culhane for 39 years before his death in 1993. She was predeceased by her grandson Thomas Robert Scognamiglio at the age of 16.
A wake will be held at R. J. O'Shea Funeral Home, Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays on Thursday the 22nd of June from 4-8PM.
The funeral mass will take place at 10:30 AM at St. Rosalie's Catholic Church in Hampton Bays on Friday, June 23rd.
Internment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
