Joan C. Johnston, 94 died peacefully at Peconic Bay Medical Center on May 6, 2026.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931 to William and Mary Pfisterer.  The family moved to Easthampton, NY in the early 1940's.  Joan attended Easthampton High School and graduated in 1947 on the Honor Roll.  As part of one of the assignments in class she interviewed Jackson Pollack at his home in Springs.  

She met her husband George J. Johnston and they were married in 1954.  Joan worked for Doubleday and Grumman in Bethpage, NY before becoming a homemaker in Hicksville, NY where their son Brian was born.  The family moved to Hampton Bays, NY in 1972.

Joan was a member of the Irish American Society of the Hamptons and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was a member of St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays where she volunteered for many years at the Food Pantry. She also sold Avon products for many years.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband George and is survived by her Son and Daughter in Law Brian and Susan, grandson Greg and his wife Melina. Joan was interred at Calverton National Cemetery alongside her husband George.
