In Loving Memory of John M. Connolly
May 2, 1949 – May 16, 2025

John Martin Connolly, a longtime resident of Hampton Bays, passed away peacefully on May 16th, surrounded by the love of his family and the loyal companionship of his cherished dog, after a brave battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.  John was the son of Mary Catherine (Fallon) and Thomas William Connolly of Rockaway Beach.

John was a devoted husband and is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dolores (McHugh). He was a proud father to Fallon and Courtney and a guiding presence to his son-in-law, Philip Storace.  John found immeasurable joy in his grandsons—Nate Connolly, Philip and Harry Storace.  He also leaves behind his beloved siblings, Noreen Monaghan, Mary Intrabartolo, and Joseph Connolly, along with many treasured in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a few close friends.  John was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, Hugh and Billy.

John attended Siena College and went on to graduate from St. John's University.  A gifted carpenter by trade, John spent the early days of his career lending his craft to the installation of exhibitions in some of the world's most prestigious museums and galleries. He founded Apple Contracting, a business built on integrity and skill. For a time, he was also co-owner of Fitzgerald's, a Rockaway landmark.  In his later years, John brought his artistry and industriousness to his role with the Town of Southampton.  Beyond his professional life, he was always ready to offer his time and talent to help others—family, friends, and neighbors alike.

John will be remembered for his calm presence, his steady hands, and above all, his kind heart. He lived for the simple joys of life—his family, the ocean, and the quiet moments spent teaching his grandsons how to ride the waves he so dearly loved.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held on May 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Westhampton Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to The Marfan Foundation.https://give.marfan.org/team/662207
