Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John William Raynor, 77, of Hampton Bays, who passed away on April 15, 2026, at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Westhampton Beach.

A graduate of Hampton Bays Jr/Sr High School, John served as a Specialist 4th Class in the Army, stationed in Germany with an artillery unit, and received the National Defense Service Medal. Upon returning home, he married Nancy A. Frost. They raised three sons in Hampton Bays and remained married for 44 years until Nancy's passing.

John was a dedicated member of the community, working for the Town of Southampton Parks Department. He was well-known for decorating the Riverhead Circle and Hampton Bays Main Street for the holidays. His friends and colleagues admired his mechanical skill, often using the phrase "Raynorize It!" to describe his ability to fix any machinery. Additionally, John was a committed volunteer with the Hampton Bays Fire Department and was once credited with rescuing a family in distress while out on the water.

John was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. He is survived by his sister, Laurel Raynor; his three sons, Michael (Kalen), Brian (Melisa), and Andrew (Carolyn); six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by his parents, William A. Raynor and Florence G. Goldfinch, and grandson Andrew James Raynor II (Little Andy.)

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John Raynor's name to The Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Westhampton Beach, NY.

Services will be held at R.J. O'Shea Funeral Home on May 1st, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A prayer service and burial will take place on May 2nd, 2026, at Good Ground Cemetery at 10:30 AM, with a luncheon reception to follow.
