Joseph D'Angelo passed away on November 28, 2017 in Brookhaven at the age of 85 years.
.Joseph D'Angelo, a resident of the Bellhaven Nursing Center in Brookhaven, NY and formerly of Jackson Heights, Queens, NY, entered Eternal Life on November 28, 2017.
Joseph was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan to his parents, the late Antonino and Giuseppina (Fazio) D'Angelo, both originally of San Fratello, in the Province of Messina, Sicily. Joseph was further blessed with his dear younger brother, Frank. Joseph and Frank grew up on 106th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in East Harlem. Joseph attended St. Cecilia's Parish Elementary School across the street from his home. He later attended Chelsea High School in lower Manhattan. In his late teens, Joseph moved with his parents and brother to his grandfather's home in Corona, Queens. By his early 20s, he, with his family, settled in Jackson Heights.
Throughout his life, Joseph was characteristically an avid fan of multiple types of music and all New York sports teams.
Moreover, Joseph lived a full life. Active in the community, he was a member of the Jackson Heights Democratic Club. Joseph was a very active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Jackson Heights. He remained an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. For over 30 years, Joseph was an usher in the parish church and a trusted counter of the Sunday collection.
Joseph was extremely proud to have retired after 20 years of work in the record room of the Queens County Court House on Sutphin Blvd.
Joseph is survived by his brother Frank (Ann) D'Angelo and much extended family.
Joseph was extremely fond and supportive of his three nephews, Anthony, James, and Francis, and his niece, Deborah. He showered them with gifts, love, and affection.
