Joy Fischer Brady died on August 8 due to health complications. She was 78.

She was born on May 7, 1942 in Queens, and resided in Southampton for several decades. During this time, she married her soul mate, Michael Brady, who predeceased her in 2000.

Ms. Brady was a dedicated mother, who adored her children and cherished every moment with them, her family said. She also loved her role as "Granny" and treasured her times traveling to visit her grandsons.

She was most proud and loved her work at The Southampton Press, where she worked for several years. Her greatest pleasure, however, came with her work at Macy's department store in Hampton Bays, from which she recently retired. She valued her customers, who learned to trust her counsel, but her greatest pleasure came from acting as a surrogate Mom to so many at the store, her family said. She was named Employee of the Month many times due to her personality.

Ms. Brady is survived by her two children, Donna and Scott; son-in-law James; and two grandsons, James and Christopher. She is also survived by her brother Raymond Fischer and his wife, Julianne, and their children Raymond Jr. and Caroline.

Plans to celebrate her life are on hold, and will be announced at a later date.
