Mario Monaco passed away on August 29, at age 88.  He was born on November 6, 1931 in Agropoli, in the Campania region of Italy.  At the age of 16 he emigrated to the US and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  In 1969, he opened Mario's Barbershop on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays and continued as the shop's owner and barber until his retirement in 2010.  He was married to Anne Fagan Monaco in 1959 until her death in 1985. His second marriage in 1990 to Jeannette Sander Monaco lasted until her death in 2010.  He is survived by his companion, Charon Roth, his children, Steven Monaco and Elisabeth Monaco Kraft, 4 grandchildren, and his step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren he shared with Jeannette.  Visiting will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 8th and 9th, from 4pm to 7 pm at R.J. O'Shea Funeral Home, Inc.  94 East Montauk Hwy, Hampton Bays.  Funeral Mass will be at the Church of St. Rosalie, Thursday, September 10, at 10 :30 am in Hampton Bays. A burial in Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Cemetery in Southampton will follow the mass.
