Obituary

Troy Smart died suddenly on Tuesday, November 21, 2012 at age 46.  Born in Murray Utah on May 1, 1966, and growing up in Heber, Utah, he spent his early years loving and living the great mountains he was surrounded by. He played football in his school years, and was an avid skier, and snowboarder. He enjoyed hiking and camping and was an accomplished fly fisherman. He even tied his own "flys", a true art.

Troy moved to Southampton, New York in 1991 with his now former wife, Lisa Smart.  They lived in Hampton Bays raising their 3 boys. He adapted his sporting life to the lure of the ocean and took up surfing, paddleboarding and kayaking He continued his love of fly fishing with new salt water challenges.

In addition, he loved skateboarding from childhood to the present and later moved on to competing in slalom races worldwide. His collection of boards was extensive and included many made by his own hand. He spent many a day teaching his boys his love of skating, surfing and fishing as well as attending and volunteering at all of his children's school and sporting events. He was a well-respected member of the community and will be missed by all.

Troy is survived by his children David, William, and Aidan Smart and their Mom and his former wife, Lisa Smart, his mother, Gayle M. Sweeney and her husband Alfred, his dad, Brent Smart, his sisters Tricia Erikson (Greg), Tracy Mulliner (Brad), and his brother Tadd Smart (Sue), as well as many nieces and nephews Katie, Chris, Caleb, Maggie, Nick, Carly, Ryan, Gracie, Jack, Wyatt, James and Olivia. He will be missed by his mother and father-in-law Loretta and Edwin Thompson with whom he worked closely with at Bellringer Communications, his sister and brother-in-law Jill and Jim Mulvey, his former girlfriend Laura Lennon Andrews and his dog Ozzie.

Services are being held at R J O'Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays, NY
on Wednesday , November 28th from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
A funeral Mass will be held on
Thursday November 29th at
St Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays at 10:30 am.

Interment-Good Ground Cemetery
