Vincent (Van)
D. Giacoia
May 29, 1949 — Oct 23, 2025
Vincent (Van) Dominick Giacoia of Hampton Bays passed away in the early morning hours of October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76 after a valiant fight against Parkinson's disease.
A lifelong resident of Southampton Town, Van was born at Southampton Hospital on May 29, 1949, to Mary and Vincent Giacoia. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, where he served his country with honor. Upon returning home, he earned an associate's degree in business from Suffolk County Community College.
During his time in the service, Van discovered a passion for cooking that blossomed into a lifelong career as a professional chef and business owner. Beyond his work, Van was known for his warmth, humor, and love of friendly competition. Whether it was a game of cornhole, a cribbage tournament, or an epic match of Risk, he brought joy and spirit to every gathering.
On February 14, 1986, Van married the love of his life, Pamela Bertrand Giacoia, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years. Together they raised five children and enjoyed their seven grandchildren. While he was an avid card player and die-hard Yankees fan, his greatest joy was always time spent with family. He is additionally survived by his mother and three siblings.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM, with an American Legion Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 27, at 10:30 AM at Hampton Bays United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery.
The family kindly requests donations be made in Van's memory to the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital Center for Parkinson's Disease or the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Westhampton.
