M. Friscia
Oct 16, 1938 — Aug 8, 2019
Vincent "Jim" Mario Friscia of Hampton Bays died on August 8, 2019. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Friscia was born on October 16, 1938, in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. The oldest of five children, he began working at a young age to help support his tight-knit family. It was at one of his jobs, as a television salesman, that he met a lovely girl from Flatbush. Her name was Jeanette and she would soon become his wife. They were married for 54 years.
Mr. Friscia was known for his amazing work ethic and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He loved cooking and gardening and took great pride in his Italian heritage. He was very religious, volunteering at St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays. He loved his family deeply, especially enjoying large family gatherings at each holiday.
As a young man, he was employed as a master tile layer and did work on many iconic structures in New York City. He later ran his own auto repair shops in Southampton and Bridgehampton. He was also an estate manager on Ram's Island and at the large Cow Neck Estate in Noyac. For the last 15 years, Mr. Friscia was employed at Spellman's Marine in Hampton Bays where he formed tight bonds with his fellow workers and many customers.
Besides his wife Jeanette, Mr. Friscia is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Diane and Richard Berglin of Hampton Bays, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Carol Friscia of Hampton Bays, and son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Susan Friscia also of Hampton Bays. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian and Nicholas Berglin and Perry, Francesca, and Caitlin Friscia. In addition, Mr. Friscia leaves his sister Fran Abelson of New City, New York; his sister and brother-in-law Angela and John Manetta of Staten Island, New York; his brother Joseph Friscia of Coram; and his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Deborah Friscia of Mount Sinai.
A wake was held on Sunday, August 11th at the R. J. O'Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays followed by a mass service at St. Rosalie's Church on Monday, August 12th. He was buried in Good Ground Cemetery.
