William Edward
Hayek
Aug 24, 1947 — May 16, 2024
William Edward Hayek passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 76 in his home in East Quogue, NY.
Bill was born August 24, 1947, in Bronx, New York to the late William and Mary Hayek. Bill spent most of his childhood years growing up in Bronx, NY before moving to New Jersey. Bill was a graduate of Seton Hall University in 1969 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Quickly realizing his passion for finance, he achieved a Master's degree in Finance from Fairleigh Dickenson University in 1972 and a second Master's degree in Economics from Bucknell University in 1975. Having a desire to learn more, Bill studied Fiduciary Law at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, Illinois from 1976-1978.
He married his wife, Ellen Marie Becker, on September 12, 1972. They were married for almost 30 years before Ellen succumbed to a courageous battle of cancer on June 15, 2002. Bill and Ellen had two boys, Brad and Tim.
Bill was the kind of person who would be involved with anything from coaching youth sports to organizing neighborhood get togethers. Haunted houses and holiday neighborhood parties were nothing uncommon for Bill to be a part of. Bill also loved being outdoors. He loved his gardening as much as walking and bicycling all around the area including bike trips on the C&O Canal. Before moving to Pennsylvania, you could find Bill and his young family spending many years on their boat making trips from New Jersey to Nantucket, Massachusetts. After relocating to East Quogue, NY after the passing of his wife, Bill spent the remainder of his time doing what he loved best which was being involved in the local community and caring for people. As a member of the community Board of Trustees, Bill devoted his time to improving the neighborhood community.
Bill spent the first part of his working career as a Trust Operations Officer before going on his own in becoming a Registered Investment Advisor and creating Main Street Management Company in 1986. Although Bill was semi-retired up until his passing, Main Street Management Company still handles clients in the Mid-Atlantic region with many clients from as far away as Florida. With a love for cooking, Bill and Ellen took a hiatus from the business world to open and operate a New York style deli called Delicate Essences. Bill was a member of several Catholic Churches including St. Patrick in York, PA and St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays, NY.
Bill is survived by his two sons Brad and his wife, Amy, and Tim and his wife, Christine. He had four loving grandchildren in Ella, Bailey, Grant, and Paige. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Hayek. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he adored very much.
Bill especially will be remembered for his continuous generosity to his family, friends, and colleagues. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone. He loved spending time with his family as well his two sons and their friends. He considered all of them to be his own kids.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28th from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM.
There will be a graveside service on May 29th at 11:00AM at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton, NY.
